Ingredients

  • 2 c. light brown sugar
  • 1 c. melted margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. walnuts

Instructions

  1. Melt margarine in a saucepan.
  2. Add sugar and stir until well combined.
  3. Break egg yolks and add vanilla extract.
  4. Mix well and set aside.
  5. Add sifted flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt to the margarine mixture.
  6. Mix well until the dough is thick.
  7. Add the egg mixture to the dough and beat all together.
  8. Pour the mixture into a 9 x 9-inch cake pan lined with plastic wrap.
  9. Spread evenly and cover with wrap. Refrigerate until firm.
  10. Slice thin slices of the chilled mixture.
  11. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 10 minutes.
  12. Remove immediately from the oven.
  13. Store in a tightly fitting topped cookie jar.
