Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup applesauce

Instructions

  1. Cream butter or margarine and sugar well.
  2. Add egg and mix thoroughly.
  3. Stir in 1 cup of applesauce.
  4. Gradually add sifted dry ingredients: flour, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon.
  5. Fold in chopped dates and pecans.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
