Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. applesauce
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. walnuts
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 c. oleo

Instructions

  1. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon together.
  2. Stir in walnuts and raisins, tossing to coat well with the flour mixture.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix applesauce, brown sugar, egg, and melted oleo.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, stirring until just blended.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before removing from the pan and slicing.
