Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 sticks margarine
  • 2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. broken pecans
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, over low heat, melt the margarine with the unsweetened chocolate.
  2. Add the sugar, then eggs, one at a time, stirring well after each addition.
  3. In a bowl, combine flour, salt, baking powder, and pecans.
  4. Sift the flour mixture into the chocolate mixture and beat all by hand until smooth.
  5. Add vanilla and mix well.
  6. Pour the batter into a well-greased 11 x 7-inch pan.
  7. Bake at 375°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool slightly, then frost or ice as desired.
