- In a saucepan, over low heat, melt the margarine with the unsweetened chocolate.
- Add the sugar, then eggs, one at a time, stirring well after each addition.
- In a bowl, combine flour, salt, baking powder, and pecans.
- Sift the flour mixture into the chocolate mixture and beat all by hand until smooth.
- Add vanilla and mix well.
- Pour the batter into a well-greased 11 x 7-inch pan.
- Bake at 375°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Allow to cool slightly, then frost or ice as desired.
