- Combine the coarsely shredded cabbage and sliced carrots in a 12 x 8-inch baking dish.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

- Gradually whisk in the milk, dry mustard, paprika, and cayenne, and cook until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in the shredded sharp Cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
- Pour the cheese sauce over the cabbage and carrots in the baking dish, mixing gently to combine.
- Sprinkle the soft bread crumbs evenly over the top.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 20-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown on top.
