Banana Split Torte

- Melt one stick of butter in a 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Crush 3 cups of vanilla wafers.
- Mix crushed wafers with melted butter and pack well in the pan; refrigerate until firm.
- Beat powdered sugar and soft butter at high speed until creamy.
- Add eggs one at a time and beat well after each addition.
- Spread the mixture on the prepared cracker crust.
- Slice bananas oblong and let them sit in pineapple juice to prevent browning.
- Place banana slices on top of the mixture.
- Drain crushed pineapple and spread on top of bananas.
- Place cherries on top of the pineapple layer.
- Top with Cool Whip.
- Optional: sprinkle with 1/4 cup chopped nuts.
- Chill overnight or for at least 4 hours before serving.
