Ingredients

  • 5 Tbsp. margarine
  • 4 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 3 Tbsp. white vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp. A.1. sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 medium onion, chopped fine
  • 1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 2 c. catsup
  • 1 tsp. Heinz savory sauce
  • 4 lb. well trimmed round or sirloin beef, cut in small pieces

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce ahead of time and simmer until flavors meld.
  2. In a saucepan, combine margarine, brown sugar, lemon juice, white vinegar, A.1. sauce, salt, dry mustard, chopped onion, chili powder, ketchup, and Heinz savory sauce.
  3. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. While the sauce simmers, cut the beef into small pieces.
  5. Add the beef to the prepared sauce and cook until the meat is tender and well coated, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
