Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground meat (moose, caribou, beef)
  • 1 lb. ground sausage
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • 1 (32 oz.) can pork and beans
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground meat and sausage; drain well.
  2. Saute the diced onion, diced green pepper, and chopped celery.
  3. Add the sautéed vegetables to the meat mixture.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the pork and beans, tomato sauce, brown sugar, and chili powder.
  5. Add salt, pepper, and minced garlic or garlic powder to taste.
  6. Combine the bean mixture with the meat mixture.
  7. Pour the combined mixture into a greased 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
  8. Bake, covered, at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour.
  9. Continue baking, uncovered, for an additional 30 minutes.
