Ingredients
- 1/4 cup bacon drippings ⓘ
- 6 small onions or 1 medium onion, chopped ⓘ
- 1/2 pound mushrooms, sliced ⓘ
- 1 pound lean round steak, cut into 3/4-inch cubes ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon flour ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon salt ⓘ
- 1/4 teaspoon crumbled marjoram or rosemary ⓘ
- 1/8 teaspoon ground pepper ⓘ
- 1/8 teaspoon crumbled thyme ⓘ
- 1 (10 1/2 oz) can condensed beef broth
- 1/2 cup wine vinegar
- 1/2 cup bourbon ⓘ
Instructions
- Heat bacon drippings in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and sliced mushrooms; cook until lightly browned.
- Remove onions and mushrooms from the skillet; set aside.
- Add steak cubes to the skillet and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides.
- Sprinkle flour, salt, marjoram or rosemary, pepper, and thyme over the meat; stir to blend well.
