Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 pounds thick round steak
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 cups consomme

Instructions

  1. Pound the flour, salt, chili powder, and black pepper into the steak using a meat pounder or the edge of a saucer.
  2. Cut the steak into pieces and quickly brown them in the olive oil.
  3. Remove all but about 2 tablespoons of oil from the skillet.
  4. Add the consomme to the skillet and let it simmer until the steak is done.
  5. Add more consomme if needed to maintain the desired amount of liquid.
