Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, try using a stout or porter beer instead of regular beer. If you don’t have rosemary, thyme can be a great substitute. To thicken the stew more, you can let it simmer longer after adding the flour paste. Make sure to stir well to prevent lumps. Using leftovers from Scrumptious Pork Steak (Toms Favorite) can enhance the flavor of your stew.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the beer stew hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired. It pairs wonderfully with crusty bread or a side salad for a complete meal. For a heartier option, consider serving it alongside mashed potatoes or over rice. This dish is a comforting choice, perfect for a family gathering or a cozy dinner at home.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. To reheat, gently warm on the stove over low heat, stirring occasionally, until heated through. If the stew thickens too much, add a splash of water or broth to reach your desired consistency before serving.

Yes, you can substitute the pork shoulder with beef chuck or chicken thighs for a different flavor. Keep in mind that cooking times may vary depending on the type of meat you choose.

What kind of beer is best for this recipe?

A dark beer like stout or porter will add depth and richness to the stew. However, a light lager or ale can also work well if that's what you have on hand. Avoid overly hoppy beers, as they can alter the flavor.

Can I freeze the beer stew?
