Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 to 3 c. flour
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 3/4 c. hot water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp. oil

Instructions

  1. Mix 1 cup flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a mixer bowl.
  2. Add butter and hot water; beat at medium speed for 2 minutes.
  3. Add egg and 1/2 cup flour; beat for 1 minute.
  4. Stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
  5. Knead on a floured surface for 5 minutes.
  6. Let rest, covered with plastic wrap and a towel, for 20 minutes.
  7. Shape into rolls.
  8. Place on a greased baking sheet.
  9. Brush with oil. Chill, covered, overnight.
  10. Let rise until doubled in bulk.
  11. Bake at 375° for 20 to 30 minutes.
