Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. lean hamburger
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped onion
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped green pepper
  • 1/4 c. cornmeal
  • 1 Tbsp. mustard
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • dash of garlic powder
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 small can tomato sauce

Instructions

  1. Mix together lean hamburger, chopped onion, chopped green pepper, cornmeal, mustard, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and beaten eggs.
  2. Form the mixture into about 16 meatballs.
  3. Brown the meatballs in shortening over medium heat.
  4. Add the small can of tomato sauce and about 1 cup of water to the browned meatballs.
  5. Simmer slowly for 45 minutes until cooked through and flavors meld.
