Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 3/4 cup oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon soda

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, chopped nuts, and oil in a bowl.
  2. Remove 3/4 cup of the mixture for the topping and set aside.
  3. To the remaining mixture, add the egg and the soda dissolved in the buttermilk.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
  5. Sprinkle the reserved topping over the batter.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool before serving.
