  • shortening (for greasing baking pan)
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup pecan or walnut pieces
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease a 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan with shortening.
  3. Melt the butter and chocolate in a large saucepan over low heat.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
  5. Stir in the sugar, flour, baking powder, vanilla, and nuts.
  6. Add eggs and beat well with a beater.
