- Butter a 9-inch pan.
- Finely crush the chocolate wafers.
- Cut in the butter until the mixture is well blended.
- Press the crumb mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan and up the sides to 3/4 inch of the top.
- Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Heat the whipping cream and chopped semi-sweet chocolate over low heat until melted, stirring constantly.
- Allow the chocolate mixture to cool for 10 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time.
- Add the cooled chocolate mixture and vanilla, stirring well.
- Pour the filling into the prepared crust.
- Bake for 1 1/4 hours.
- Cool completely before refrigerating.
- Serve topped with cherry pie filling and whipped cream.
