Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb hamburger
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large slice white bread
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 or 8 almonds, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons margarine

Instructions

  1. Soak the bread in half of the milk.
  2. Fry the chopped onion in 1 tablespoon of margarine until translucent.
  3. Mix curry powder, sugar, salt, and lemon juice, then add to the hamburger.
  4. Add the soaked bread, fried onions, chopped almonds, and one egg to the hamburger mixture.
  5. Mix well and place into a well-greased dish.
  6. Whisk the remaining two eggs and the rest of the milk together.
  7. Season with salt and pepper, then pour over the hamburger mixture.
  8. Arrange sliced lemons on top and add the rest of the melted margarine.
  9. Bake for 45 minutes at 350°F in a dish of water.
