Tips & Substitutions

For a lighter option, you can substitute the half and half with low-fat milk or a non-dairy milk. If you don’t have Dijon mustard, whole grain mustard works well as a substitute. To enhance the flavor, consider adding fresh herbs like thyme or parsley while cooking the mushrooms. For a crispy texture, ensure the chicken is coated well in flour before frying.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the chicken Dijon over a bed of rice or creamy mashed potatoes to soak up the delicious sauce. A side of steamed green beans or a fresh salad can complement the richness of the dish nicely. This recipe also pairs beautifully with Mother'S Chicken And Dumplings for a comforting meal.

Storage & Reheating

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the chicken and sauce in a skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally until warmed through. You can also microwave it, but be sure to cover the dish to retain moisture and prevent drying out.

How can I make this dish gluten-free?

To make Chicken Dijon gluten-free, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend or cornstarch for coating the chicken. Ensure that the chicken gravy and any other condiments used are also gluten-free. This way, you can still enjoy this delicious dish without the gluten.
