Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons grated nutmeg
  • 1 cup bourbon whiskey
  • 2 1/2 cups raisins
  • 2 cups chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Cream butter in a large mixing bowl; gradually add sugar, beating well.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating mixture well after each addition.
  3. Combine 3 3/4 cups of flour, baking powder, and grated nutmeg.
  4. Add the flour mixture alternately with bourbon to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
  5. Mix well after each addition.
  6. Dredge raisins and chopped pecans in the remaining 1/4 cup of flour.
  7. Stir the floured raisins and pecans into the batter.
  8. Spoon batter into a heavily greased 10-inch tube pan.
  9. Bake at 325°F for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until the cake tests done.
  10. Cool the cake in the pan for 15 minutes.
  11. Remove the cake from the pan and let cool completely.
