Ingredients

  • 1 pkg active dry yeast
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 c warm milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 oz Swiss cheese
  • 1/4 c warm water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 c softened butter
  • 3 1/4 c flour
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large warm bowl.
  2. Add sugar, salt, warm milk, softened butter, 3 eggs, and 1 cup of flour to the yeast mixture.
  3. Beat until smooth.
  4. Stir in enough additional flour to make a soft dough.
  5. On a floured surface, knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl; turn to grease the top.
  7. Cover and let rise in a warm, draft-free place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  8. Punch down the dough, cover tightly, and refrigerate for 5 hours.
