Ingredients

  • 12 slices white bread
  • 12 oz sharp cheese
  • 10 oz broccoli, cooked and drained
  • 2 cups diced ham
  • 3 1/2 cups milk
  • 6 beaten eggs
  • 2 Tbsp minced onion
  • 1/4 tsp dry mustard

Instructions

  1. Cut round circles out of the bread and remove the crusts.
  2. Place the crust scraps in the bottom of a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the remaining bread, cooked broccoli, diced ham, milk, beaten eggs, minced onion, and dry mustard; stir until well mixed.
  4. Pour the mixture over the crusts in the pan.
  5. Refrigerate the assembled casserole for at least 6 hours, or overnight, to allow flavors to meld and the bread to soften.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and bake uncovered for 1 hour, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
