Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 heaping tablespoon cocoa, dissolved in 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder, dissolved in 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl.
  2. Pour the batter equally into 3 greased and floured cake pans.
  3. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Remove from oven and let cool before frosting or serving.
