Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1 cup nuts (pecans, walnuts, etc.)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl with an electric mixer, beat together the sugar, the brown sugar, the corn syrup, and the butter until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the melted and cooled semi-sweet chocolate, the flour, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Reserve 25 whole nuts.
  4. Chop the remaining nuts and stir them into the batter.
  5. Pour the batter into a buttered and floured 9-inch baking pan, smoothing the top.
  6. Arrange the remaining nuts on top of the batter.
  7. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 30 to 40 minutes or until the batter pulls away slightly from the side.
  8. Cool completely before cutting.
