Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup reduced-calorie margarine, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg white
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Spray an 8 x 8 x 2-inch square pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, melted margarine, vanilla, egg, and egg white until well combined.
  4. Stir in the flour, cocoa, chopped walnuts, baking powder, and salt until the mixture is smooth.
  5. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the brownies to cool, then cut into 2-inch squares.
  8. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
