Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound bacon
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 2 small onions
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • salt
  • ground black pepper
  • 1 14.75 ounce can cream-style corn
  • 1 15.25 ounce can whole kernel corn
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups milk
  • 6 small potatoes
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Fry bacon in a pan until almost done, then add onions and celery, and sauté until lightly browned.
  2. Transfer the bacon, onions, and celery to a cooking pot.
  3. Add cream-style corn, whole kernel corn, butter, and chicken broth to the pot.
  4. Add chopped carrots and cubed potatoes to the pot.
  5. Cook the mixture for about 15 minutes.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together flour and a little water to form a paste.
  7. Add milk and the flour paste to the soup, stirring well.
  8. Adjust the amount of flour paste depending on desired thickness.
  9. Simmer the chowder for 30 minutes or until ready to serve.
  10. Add salt and ground black pepper to taste.
