Ingredients

  • 2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1 c. soft bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 c. grated Mozzarella cheese
  • 20 small square rolls

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine ground beef, chopped onion, bread crumbs, egg, mayonnaise, garlic salt, Italian seasoning, and black pepper; mix well.
  3. Press the meat mixture into the bottom of a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch jelly roll pan, keeping it about one inch from the edges.
  4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, then drain excess fat.
  5. Sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese over the meat and bake for an additional 5 to 8 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from oven and let rest for about 5 minutes.
  7. Cut the meat into 20 squares and place each inside split small rolls. Serve with mustard and mayonnaise.
