Ingredients

  • 1 squash
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dark corn syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Boil whole squash in a deep kettle for 15 minutes.
  2. Drain, split, and remove seeds.
  3. Peel the squash and cut into chunks.
  4. Melt butter in a heavy pan.
  5. Stir in brown sugar, dark corn syrup, nutmeg, and water.
  6. Add squash to the pan and toss well; cover and simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Uncover and cook for an additional 5 minutes or until tender.
