Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 c. dry bread crumbs
  • 1/3 c. minced onion
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp. snipped parsley
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 (12 oz.) bottle chili sauce
  • 1 (10 oz.) jar currant jelly

Instructions

  1. Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, minced onion, milk, egg, parsley, salt, Worcestershire sauce, and other ingredients until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  3. Melt shortening in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Brown the meatballs in the skillet.
  5. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and drain excess fat.
  6. In the same skillet, heat chili sauce and currant jelly until the jelly is melted, stirring constantly.
  7. Add the browned meatballs to the sauce and stir until coated.
  8. Simmer the meatballs in the sauce for 30 minutes.
  9. Serve hot in a chafing dish.
