- Preheat the oven and prepare an 8 x 4 x 2-inch loaf pan by greasing it and sprinkling it with cornmeal.
- In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, quick rising active dry yeast, onion powder, pepper, salt, and cornmeal.
- Warm the milk and butter until the butter melts, then add the sugar and egg, and mix well.
- Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Fold in the shredded Cheddar cheese or Monterey Jack cheese.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool slightly before removing from the pan and serving.
