Cheese-Broccoli Strata

Ingredients

  • 12 slices bread (with crusts removed)
  • 3/4 lb. sliced or grated sharp cheese
  • 2 (10 oz.) packages frozen chopped broccoli, cooked
  • 6 slightly beaten eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 Tbsp. instant minced onion
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. dry mustard

Instructions

  1. With a donut cutter or a glass, cut 12 circles from the bread.
  2. Fit leftover bread scraps into the bottom of a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  3. Place the sliced or grated cheese over the bread layer.
  4. Add a layer of cooked, chopped broccoli on top of the cheese.
  5. Arrange the bread circles on top of the broccoli layer.
  6. In a bowl, combine the eggs, milk, instant minced onion, salt, and dry mustard.
  7. Pour the egg mixture evenly over all the ingredients in the pan.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  9. Bake uncovered at 325°F (163°C) for 55 minutes.
