Crispy, cheese-filled phyllo triangles with a savory feta and onion filling, perfect as appetizers or party snacks for cheese lovers and entertaining occasions.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup minced onion
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • dash of salt
  • dash of pepper
  • dash of nutmeg
  • 7 sheets commercial frozen phyllo pastry, thawed
  • 2/3 cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Spray a skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium until hot.
  2. Add minced onion and sauté until tender. Remove from heat.
  3. In a bowl, combine the cooked onion, crumbled feta cheese, slightly beaten egg, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  4. Cut each sheet of phyllo pastry lengthwise into 2-inch strips.
  5. Brush one strip with melted butter.
  6. Place 1 teaspoon of cheese mixture at the base of the buttered phyllo strip.
  7. Fold the strip like a flag into triangles, covering the filling.
  8. Place the triangles seam side down on greased cookie sheets.
  9. Brush the tops with melted butter.
  10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
