Ingredients

  • 1 c. drained cottage cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. half and half
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. white sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 2 c. vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, beat the cottage cheese and egg together.
  2. Stir in the half and half, flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and nutmeg. Mix until just combined.
  3. Fill a deep pot to the 2-inch mark with vegetable oil and heat to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Drop batter by rounded tablespoonfuls into the hot oil.
  5. Fry until golden brown on all sides, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  6. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
  7. Serve hot.
