- Mix ground beef and bread crumbs with evaporated milk, egg, salt, dry mustard, pepper, and minced onion.
- Press the meat mixture into an 8-inch pie tin and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
- Remove from oven and place 3 slices of American cheese on top of the meat.
- Prepare mashed potatoes and swirl them on top of the cheese.
- Break the fourth slice of cheese into pieces and place on top of the mashed potatoes.
- Bake for an additional 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
