Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter
  • 2 cups chopped cabbage
  • 1 cup sliced onions
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 cup thinly sliced carrots
  • 9 oz. frozen sweet peas
  • 7 oz. can cream-style corn
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme leaves
  • 10 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a Dutch oven or large saucepan, melt margarine or butter.
  2. Add chopped cabbage, sliced onions, diced celery, sliced carrots, and frozen sweet peas.
  3. Saute for 8 to 10 minutes or until crisp-tender.
  4. Add cream-style corn, milk, salt, pepper, and thyme leaves.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Add shredded Cheddar cheese and stir until melted.
