Cheesy Beef Rice Bake

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 c. long grain rice
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 c. water
  • 1 c. shredded carrot
  • 2 tsp. beef bouillon granules
  • 1 tsp. parsley flakes
  • 1/2 tsp. minced dried onion
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/2 c. shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, cook ground beef and minced garlic until meat is browned; drain off fat.
  2. Remove from pan and set aside.
  3. In the same saucepan, cook uncooked rice in butter until golden brown, stirring frequently.
  4. Stir in water, shredded carrot, beef bouillon granules, parsley flakes, dried onion, salt, and basil.
  5. Bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
  7. Stir in the cooked meat mixture.
  8. Turn the mixture into a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
  9. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top and bake until cheese is melted and bubbly, if desired.
