Ingredients

  • 1 fryer, cut up
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Boil the fryer chicken, chopped onions, chopped celery, seasoned salt, black pepper, and garlic powder in 2 quarts of water until the chicken is cooked.
  2. Remove the cooked chicken from the broth and debone it.
  3. Return the deboned chicken to the pot.
  4. On low heat, gradually stir in the cornmeal, 1/2 cup at a time, until the desired thickness is achieved.
  5. Serve hot for a comforting meal, especially when feeling sick.
