Ingredients

  • 6 Tbsp. butter, margarine or oil
  • 6 medium onions, sliced
  • 3 lb. ground beef
  • 3 cans (20 oz.) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup beer
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Tabasco
  • 2 to 4 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 3 cloves garlic

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a large saucepan.
  2. Add sliced onions and cook until tender, not brown.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, draining if necessary.
  4. Add crushed tomatoes, ketchup, beer, salt, Tabasco, and chili powder to the beef mixture.
  5. Crush garlic cloves and add to the saucepan.
  6. Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
