Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup butter, melted
  • 2 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine melted butter and brown sugar in a bowl.
  2. Beat in eggs, one at a time.
  3. Blend in vanilla.
  4. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt, then add to the wet mixture.
  5. Stir in chocolate chips and chopped nuts if using.
  6. Spread the batter into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
  8. Do not overbake.
  9. Cut into bars while still warm.
