Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 cup cake flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup grated semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 cup finely chopped dates
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line an 8 x 8-inch pan with waxed paper, grease well, and set aside.
  2. Sift salt, baking powder, and cake flour into a mixing bowl.
  3. Add sifted brown sugar, granulated sugar, grated semi-sweet chocolate, chopped dates, and chopped walnuts to the bowl.
  4. Mix thoroughly until combined.
  5. Whip in the well-beaten eggs until the mixture is evenly incorporated.
  6. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and cut into bars while still hot.
  9. Allow to cool completely, then remove from the pan.
  10. Store in an airtight container.
