Ingredients

  • 2 c. Crisco
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 1/4 c. bleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the Crisco, sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Stir in chocolate chips or chunks and toasted nuts if desired.
  8. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown around the edges.
  10. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
