Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate pieces
  • 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together 1 cup butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add 2 teaspoons vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 1 teaspoon salt.
  5. Add the sifted dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  6. Stir in 3 cups rolled oats.
  7. Press the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. In a saucepan, melt 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate pieces, 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk, and 2 tablespoons butter over low heat.
  10. Pour the chocolate mixture over the baked base and spread evenly.
  11. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
