Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2/3 cup salad oil
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Grease and flour a 13 1/2 x 9 1/2-inch cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa, soda, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add the vinegar, salad oil, water, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the top springs back when lightly touched.
  6. Remove from oven and allow to cool before serving.
