Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 2 (1 oz.) squares bittersweet chocolate
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup plus 2 teaspoons butter or margarine
  • chopped walnuts
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee
  • additional egg for egg mixture

Instructions

  1. Combine egg and enough cold water to make 1/2 cup total volume. Whisk with a knife blade in a food processor.
  2. Add flour and 1 square of chocolate to the food processor.
  3. Blend well and add 1/2 cup margarine.
  4. Pulse 5 or 6 times until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. With the machine running, add 2 to 3 tablespoons of the egg mixture until a dough ball forms.
  6. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
  7. Press the dough out into an 11-inch tart pan.
