Ingredients

  • 8 oz. fully cooked Polish sausage
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seed
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup cooked, sliced potatoes
  • 2 slices bacon, cut up
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 (16 oz.) can sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
  • 2 medium green or red apples, cored and cut

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook bacon, chopped onion, and minced garlic until tender.
  2. Drain the mixture and stir in dry white wine, brown sugar, caraway seed, ground cloves, and pepper.
  3. Add rinsed and drained sauerkraut and cooked, sliced potatoes to the skillet.
  4. Top the mixture with fully cooked Polish sausage slices.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  6. Add apple wedges and cook for about 8 minutes until apples are tender.
