Choucroute Garni

Ingredients
- 8 oz. fully cooked Polish sausage ⓘ
- 1/2 cup chopped onion ⓘ
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 1 teaspoon caraway seed ⓘ
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves ⓘ
- 1 cup cooked, sliced potatoes ⓘ
- 2 slices bacon, cut up ⓘ
- 1 garlic clove, minced ⓘ
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar ⓘ
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper ⓘ
- 1 (16 oz.) can sauerkraut, rinsed and drained ⓘ
- 2 medium green or red apples, cored and cut ⓘ
Instructions
- In a skillet, cook bacon, chopped onion, and minced garlic until tender.
- Drain the mixture and stir in dry white wine, brown sugar, caraway seed, ground cloves, and pepper.
- Add rinsed and drained sauerkraut and cooked, sliced potatoes to the skillet.
- Top the mixture with fully cooked Polish sausage slices.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Add apple wedges and cook for about 8 minutes until apples are tender.
