Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups mixed candied fruit, chopped
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Grease a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch pan.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, baking soda, ground cloves, ground nutmeg, and salt.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix vegetable oil, brown sugar, sugar, honey, egg, and vanilla until well blended.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in chopped candied fruit and chopped nuts.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
