Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup soft bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard

Instructions

  1. Reserve 1/4 cup of tomato sauce.
  2. Combine ground beef, remaining tomato sauce, bread crumbs, egg, onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, and pepper, mixing thoroughly.
  3. Shape the beef mixture into an 8 x 4 1/2-inch loaf and place it on a rack in an open roasting pan.
  4. Combine brown sugar and dry mustard and blend with the reserved tomato sauce.
  5. Spread the sauce mixture over the top of the loaf.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
