Ingredients
- 1 lb. Italian sausage ⓘ
- 1 lb. hot bulk pork sausage ⓘ
- 2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 c. finely chopped onion ⓘ
- 1/2 green pepper, chopped fine ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. oregano ⓘ
- 1 tsp. garlic salt
- 1 lb. processed American cheese, cubed ⓘ
- 1 lb. Mozzarella cheese, cubed ⓘ
- 1 lb. Longhorn or Colby cheese, grated ⓘ
- 3 (8 oz.) loaves party rye bread ⓘ
Instructions
- Remove casing from Italian sausage; crumble sausage into large skillet.
- Add pork sausage and ground beef to the skillet.
- Add the chopped onion and green pepper.
- Cook thoroughly, stirring constantly, until meat is browned.
- Drain well on paper towels; wipe the skillet clean.
- Return meat mixture to the skillet.
- Add oregano and garlic salt, and mix well.
- Heat through until hot, then stir in American, Mozzarella, and Longhorn or Colby cheeses until melted.
- Remove from heat.
- Spread the meat and cheese mixture onto the party rye bread slices and serve.
