Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Italian sausage
  • 1 lb. hot bulk pork sausage
  • 2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 c. finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 green pepper, chopped fine
  • 2 Tbsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 lb. processed American cheese, cubed
  • 1 lb. Mozzarella cheese, cubed
  • 1 lb. Longhorn or Colby cheese, grated
  • 3 (8 oz.) loaves party rye bread

Instructions

  1. Remove casing from Italian sausage; crumble sausage into large skillet.
  2. Add pork sausage and ground beef to the skillet.
  3. Add the chopped onion and green pepper.
  4. Cook thoroughly, stirring constantly, until meat is browned.
  5. Drain well on paper towels; wipe the skillet clean.
  6. Return meat mixture to the skillet.
  7. Add oregano and garlic salt, and mix well.
  8. Heat through until hot, then stir in American, Mozzarella, and Longhorn or Colby cheeses until melted.
  9. Remove from heat.
  10. Spread the meat and cheese mixture onto the party rye bread slices and serve.
