- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a No. 6 skillet or similar baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, combine buttermilk, sour cream, egg, and milk; stir well.
- Add cornmeal, cream-style corn, chopped onion, grated cheddar cheese, soda, ground cracklin, margarine, and salt to the mixture.
- Mix all ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared greased pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then serve warm.
