Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, brown sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly.
  3. Set aside 1/4 cup of the crumb mixture for topping.
  4. Add baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the remaining crumb mixture and mix well.
  5. Add buttermilk and beaten egg to the mixture and mix until combined.
  6. Pour batter into a greased baking pan.
  7. Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture over the top.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
