Ingredients

  • 8 cups corn bread, crumbled
  • 6 cups soft bread cubes
  • 1 pound ground sausage
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon sage
  • 2 cups chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 10 1/4 ounce can condensed chicken broth
  • 12 to 16 pound turkey

Instructions

  1. Bake corn bread as directed on the package. Cool and crumble into a large bowl.
  2. Add bread cubes to the corn bread and set aside.
  3. Cook sausage with sage until the meat is done.
  4. Drain and discard the grease from the sausage.
  5. Sauté chopped celery and chopped onion until tender.
  6. Add sautéed celery and onion to the sausage mixture.
  7. Add beaten eggs and chicken broth to the combined breads and sausage mixture.
  8. Toss lightly to combine all ingredients.
  9. For more moist stuffing, add 1/4 cup water and mix well.
  10. Lightly spoon stuffing into the turkey cavity.
  11. Bake the stuffed turkey as directed.
  12. Place any remaining stuffing in a 1 to 1 1/2-quart casserole dish, cover, and bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
